Danny Kustra is a Critical Care Flight Paramedic with a bachelor’s degree in health sciences, specializing in Paramedicine. He is currently enrolled in a Master of Education program focusing on Health Care Professionals. He presently practices clinically with STARS Air Ambulance, delivering critical care services across Manitoba’s diverse rural and remote landscapes. In addition to his clinical role, Danny serves as a Clinician Educator at the University of Manitoba’s Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, where he leads innovations in healthcare simulation.
Key highlights of his career and activities include sixteen years as paramedic involving TEMS, community paramedicine, 911 ground response, and critical care fixed wing and hems operations. He is enthusiastic about advancing healthcare education and is passionate in shaping the next generation of healthcare providers.
As a clinician educator, he collaborates across healthcare disciplines to ensure that evidence-based, high-quality simulation training is accessible to learners and professionals alike. He has played a pivotal role in developing the RadyVerse Virtual Reality Program, a groundbreaking initiative that brings unparalleled realism to medical simulation and enhances training opportunities for healthcare professionals throughout Manitoba.
In addition to his professional contributions, Danny is dedicated to supporting the paramedic community. He actively volunteers on several committees, including the EMS PEP Database, ITLS Simulation Committee, Manitoba College of Paramedics Council and Simulation Canada Accreditation Committee. He also leads DnR Prehospital Education, a FOAMed company designed to improve access to ongoing prehospital education. In his free time, he loves spending time with his twin girls Devin and Bailey and his wife Danielle.
